Great tournament for our U12 team in LALIGA FC Futures, where they made us enjoy their journey in Villarreal to the fullest. Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be, and we ended up falling in the quarterfinals against Real Betis, but the team delivered a great performance that excited those present and fans watching from home.
Our team began their journey on Friday morning in the group stage. Getafe C.F., placed in Group A, faced Athletic Club at 11:30 AM, losing 1-2 in a very close match.
In the second match, played at 12:30 PM on Friday, our team faced Real Sociedad and achieved their first victory in the tournament thanks to a goal by Ángel, which secured a 0-1 win for the team.
In the third match of the group stage, there was a great 1-2 victory against Real Madrid. The team played a perfect game, and thanks to a goal by Carmelo in the final minutes, they secured the win against Real Madrid.
The U12 team played their last group stage match against UD Levante, in a very close game that ended in a 1-1 draw after a goal by Víctor. The team finished this first phase as the second-placed team.
Getafe played a great collective match against Espanyol in the round of 16, an effort that was rewarded with a goal by Matías in the final minute, granting the team a spot in the quarterfinals.
At 6:00 PM on Saturday, the quarterfinal match against Real Betis began. Despite the great effort by the boys, the physical superiority of the Andalusian team ultimately prevailed, and the result ended in favor of the Seville team with a 2-0 scoreline.
Even so, we should feel very proud of the great tournament played by César Sánchez's U12 team, who delivered a magnificent performance and went far in a competition that brings together the best youth academies from all over Spain.
