End of the cup journey in Burgos

Getafe C.F. says goodbye to the Copa del Rey after being eliminated in Burgos.

Getafe C.F. was eliminated in the round of 32 of the Copa del Rey after losing 3-1 to Burgos C.F. at El Plantío. The blue team traveled to Burgos with the hope of continuing to advance in the KO competition.

Getafe C.F. came out determined and managed to take the lead on the scoreboard half an hour into the game thanks to a great shot by Álex Sancris from three-quarters, following a corner kick. The goal seemed to set the match on course for a halftime lead for the blue team. However, in injury time, Burgos C.F. was awarded a penalty that David González converted, leveling the score before the break.

After the break, José Bordalás made substitutions, bringing in Luis Milla and Adrián Liso. With these changes, Getafe C.F. regained prominence and control of the game, but it was the home team that struck in a quick transition. Iñigo Córdoba seized the opportunity to place the ball into the top corner and put Burgos C.F. ahead. In the final stretch of the match, Getafe C.F. kept pressing and had several chances to equalize, but once again Iñigo Córdoba, in the 73rd minute, scored the third goal and sealed the elimination.

With this result, the blue team says goodbye to the Copa del Rey and now focuses its attention on the league match against Real Betis, which will take place next Sunday at 9:00 PM at La Cartuja.
